When can I swim post TT and Lipo? 2 weeks post op.

Question

Hi! I am two weeks out of my TT (no MR) and Lipo. I'm feeling GREAT. I am going on a beach holiday with my husband and kids and we will be south when i am 4.5 weeks post op. Would I be able to swim in a chlorinated pool? Its my in-laws and so not a lot of people in it. Going to be speaking to my PS when I see her next week - but wanted to get an idea now for planning. Thank you!

Thanks for the question.It's great that you feels good so quickly after your tummy tuck.I think most of us plastic surgeons on this forum will have you talk to your plastic surgeon about this issue. If all incisions have healed without any openings, most plastic surgeons would probably advise you to wait until six weeks before swimming. This time frame allows the incision to be air tight and very strong.Make a quick phone call to your surgeon's office and get their instructions.Good Luck!

You will be able to go swimming after your incisions have fully healed. The amount of time it takes for incisions to fully heal can vary from patient to patient, so I would recommend visiting your plastic surgeon a few days before your vacation for an evaluation. If she says you can swim, then go right ahead. However, if your incisions have not fully healed yet and your plastic surgeon advises against swimming, you should follow her advice. Swimming before your incisions have healed can lead to infection.

First of all, congratulations on your tummy tuck and liposuction, kristy1000!
You may go and swim in the pool as long as your incisions are healed, and they can heal as early as four weeks after surgery.
I’d say it’s safe for you to go swimming, but take note that healing time differs from person to person. If you swim even when you’re incisions have not yet fully healed, you’re putting yourself at risk for infection.
The best thing to do is to go to your experienced and board-certified plastic surgeon and get yourself evaluated.
