Question

I got Botox last Wednesday 5 days ago and have had white swelling or discoloration/fluid collection (not sure?) about a nickel to quarter size with bruise in center. is this white fluid looking spot normal? nurse injector said she was not concerned when she saw it a few days ago but she also said it should improve more quickly. what could be causing this white looking area? if i press on the white area it turns pink for a moment/indents very slightly. not tender.

If you're feeling pain, you should follow up with your injector / physician. Or see an experienced cosmetic dermatologist to get a formal evaluation, resolve the issue, and develop a new treatment plan to address your acne scars. Best of luck, Dr. Emer

This area is likely fluid collection along with a small bruise.  It should improve over the next few days.  If it does not, contact your injector for further evaluation.  The supplements Arnica and Bromelain may be helpful for bruising and swelling.

Hi, thanks for your question, sorry you are experiencing discomfort. If Botox is injected with a lot of fluid dilution, it can take some time for that swollen tissue to calm down. I always recommend seeing a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon for injections and follow ups.

Most likely this is just fluid and it should resolve along with the bruise that is with it without any treatment
