Question about neck lipo/lift?

Question

I want a much longer looking/more defined jaw. I am uncertain as to how much of it is muscle structure and how much of it is fat. Would a doctor be able to tell me how much of a reduction I’d see from just an in office visit? I don’t want to spend money on a lipo/lift only to find out afterwards it was the structure of my neck. That being said, how much can you change the structure of your neck to fix the slope from neck to chin?

Chin liposuction can work very well to reduce submental fat deposits. As others have mentioned, Kybella is also an option that can work well. Chin liposuction tends to be a one-time treatment, whereas Kybella requires multiple treatment sessions. The best way to know how to proceed is to consult with a surgeon who specializes in facial aesthetic procedures and can discuss the surgical and non-surgical options with you in detail. An in-person exam would be very helpful to determine how much submental fat, muscle, etc is present in order to make the best recommendation. Be sure to see an expert.All the best,

You may consider a chin augmentation to improve your jawline combined with liposuction of the sub mental chin and neck. Liposuction of the chin area alone could give improvement as well. Liposuction can be combined with J-Plasma (Renuvion) Cool Helium Plasma for skin tightening of the chin and neck produces consistently good results for appropriate candidates. I would recommend an in person consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.

Chin lipo decreases the fullness of the submittal area ( area below the chin) thus improving the appearance of the double chin. 
Having a well defined jaw line depends on the prominence of the jaw bone and specially the chin portion of it. patients with not prominent chin, may benefit from chin augmentation with either chin implants or fillers to have a more defined jaw line.  Very often chin augmentation with chin lipo is performed to achieve an even more defined jaw line

This needs an in-person evaluation. Neck liposuction is a great option for patients with good skin elasticity and excess fat in the neck and around the jawline. This will remove excess fat and stimulate the skin to contract over time which will improve angulation and definition along the jawline. I recommend seeing an expert for a consultation who can go over this procedure to determine if it will achieve your desired results and the cost of the procedure. I hope this helps!

Is very difficult to tell from the one limited photograph, but it appears that there's a weak and recessive chin profile for which a chin implant can improve the projection of the mandible bone. The fatty deposits in the neck can be removed with liposuction. A platysma plasty can significantly improve the jawline. All these procedures are complementary to each other. HI,Thank you for your inquiry about options for your neck.  It can be difficult to diagnosis a patient without a personal examination but based on your photo, you could be a great candidate for coolsculpting.  Coolsculpting is a permanent fat reducer and works great in the neck/submental area.  If you have laxity in your skin and want a more drastic look,  a neck lift may be a better option for you.  I suggest you visit a practice with a board certified physician for you surgical and injectable options and one that has qualified staff that has been trained by Zeltiq, the makers of coolsculpting.

Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures using dermal fillers, silastic facial implants (cheek, chin), liposuction and/or facelifts for over 30 years.  From the photo, your chin is quite weak and there is some excess skin and fat below the chin.  In addition, the back portion of the jaw line is a bit weak.  Women look best with balanced lower faces and swan-like necks.  This would entail correction of the weak chin and augmentation of the back portion of the jaw line along with removal of the excess fat and skin by an expert in facial shaping which by definition is a board certified facial plastic surgeon who specializes in plastic surgery of the face and neck.
  I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years.  When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin".  
 Proper placement of a silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face.  Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck.  Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision.  
 I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess fat and skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty (requires extensive tissue dissection, bone cuts and placement of metal screws and plates to secure the cut segments of bone).  I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone.  In my opinion, you are a good candidate for chin implant surgery. 
 The jaw line can be augmented with precise placement of a dermal filler without masculinizing the jaw line or face.
