Judging from the photos, you would benefit from ala base reduction and tip refinement. In my practice, this procedure typically costs $8,000 to $10,000. Good luck and be safe.Respectfully, John T. Hello and thank you for your question. Based on yourphotograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon canaccomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in yourlower nose. Cost varies based on geographic region and surgeon expertise. Make sure you specifically look at before and afterpictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeonand not just a computer animation system. The most importantaspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seekconsultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluateyou in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
A rhinoplasty procedure can accomplish narrowing wide nostrils, narrowing the nasal tip cartilages, and narrowing the bridge line. The cost of a rhinoplasty is directly related to the amount of time monitored under anesthesia by a physician anesthesiologist, the amount of time it takes to perform a procedure in a formal operating room, and the surgeon's fees for performing the rhinoplasty in addition to all of the post operative follow-up appointments for one year. it is hard to tell from the photos, but it sounds like you are wanting essentially the tip of your nose altered. In other words the nostrils to be made smaller and more defined in shape (instead of rounded). Tip rhinoplasty can be done to improve the appearance of the lower third of your nose. The recovery is usually about 10 days
Yes! If you want refinement of your nose you can have what's called "alar base reduction." There are several techniques (Weir excision, Sill excision, etc) to achieve this and examining you will determine which is best for you. If you are ONLY having alar base reduction and no other rhinoplasty procedure it would cost on the order of $2000-5000 for the surgeon, anesthesia, facility, etc. I find most people want a whole nose refinement and end up at least getting some nasal tip refinement done with a more formal rhinoplasty and so this costs $6k-10. Hope this helps.
The alar cartilages form the tip and the alae, the lateral crura (side leg) of these cartilages shape the side of the tip and ala and provide support as well as functional allowance in breathing; this essential part of the aesthetic and functional nasal skeleton is always, by the anatomical...
After 7 months, the majority of the swelling should be gone. If there are persistent irregularities after this time they could be corrected with injectables along the dorsum which could be a band-aid on the underlying issue of an open roof. Correction of an open roof may entail revision...
This is a great question. You are correct that the creation of an L-strut does not increase strength - however, several studies have shown that a septum only needs 8-10mm of an L-strut to maintain the necessary structure to the mid-portion and tip of the nose. Without knowing your particular...

You do not need to wait a set amount of time to undergo a revision. If it is an issue that is plain to see and not due to swelling, then you could undergo a revision sooner.
