6 days post op. Does Botox stop working on Day 6 for some people? (photos)

Hello, typically the lasting results of your Botox injection will be fully realized at 7-10 days. If you can not schedule a time to meet with your injector to review your results, I would take video of you working through several facial expressions to send to that injector for review. There are also great, free resources that can help you better understand the healing process with Botox and fillers.

You may have some variations due to swelling, but Botox does not typically come and go.  Usually, after about a week, you will have a steady state result for about four months.  Everyone is different, but some response similar to that is expected.  Check back with your PS if concerned.  

It should not stop working that quickly. Most likely you need a touch up with a few more units added. This is not uncommon. The surrounding muscles recognize the weakness and start to become overactive. It is our standard practice to see patients a few days after the botox has started to kick in just to perfect issues such as that you are having.Hope this helps.Best of luck,DrC

While it may take up to two weeks to see the total benefits of one Botox
session, the results will last for three to four months. It is not uncommon for
the brows to feel a little ‘heavy’ after receiving Botox in the Frontalis
muscle, as the body must to grow accustomed to the newly relaxed muscle. I
suggest being patient, and giving your results a full two weeks to appear. If
you are not happy with the results or have any further concerns, reach out to
your experienced Botox provider for their advice. He or she may recommend
additional Botox to achieve your desired results.

Thank you for sharing your question. Botox typically takes up to 14 days to take effect and can last approximately 3-4 months. It is unlikely that your Botox has even kicked in completely at 6 days. I recommend waiting the full two weeks before evaluating your results. If, at the two week mark, you still feel that you see no effect, please follow up with your injector. Botox does not work that soon, you were likely experiencing swelling from the injections that has resolved. It takes 2 weeks to see the maximal results of Botox. If at that point you still see no results you 1) are a nonresponder (which some people claim but I have never seen), 2) were underdosed or 3) the Botox was diluted. Good luck!

For some patients, it will take a full two weeks for final results. However, a touch-up may be needed to get your desired results. I would follow up with your injector. Hope this helps.

Hello.  Most patients will respond to Botox by days 3-4, less commonly up to a week to respond.  The important thing to examine is whether you can move your forehead.  If you had 24 units in the forehead, you should not be able to raise your brows.  If you include your glabellar wrinkles (the "angry 11's" ) as part of your forehead, then you should not be able to frown.  Also, bear in mind, it's common to feel your brows are heavy after the frontalis is treated.  Our brain is naturally wired to try to raise our brows because the eye wants more light to come in.  When the frontalis is weakened by Botox, the natural tendency to raise the brows is affected and you'll find your brows feel heavy.  This is different than the brows actually dropping--this is not intended, and means the Botox was injected too low.  It's not a "complication," but rather a suboptimal result.  But I have patients who complain of heavy brows, but the photos show the brows are unchanged in height compared to pre treatment.  The best thing is to follow up with the doctor who injected you to make sure things are progressing as expected.  Take care.

No, Botox should not stop working after that period of time. Actually its final result may take 7-10 days. Some patients develop antibodies to Botox and for them it does not work but a specific blood test is needed for diagnosis. High dilution of Botox will cause softening or disappearance of the wrinkles due to the swelling caused by the solution; however as the swelling subsides in the next few days the wrinkles reappear if there are not adequate units delivered to the target muscles.
