I had a thighplasty with a butt lift about 6 months ago (not BBL). I am 50 yrs old and had lost 43 pounds. I currently weigh 110lbs, and was excited I finally lost the weight I've been struggling with for years. The first 4 months, everything looked amazing. My legs were tight, and below my butt incisions looked amazing. Two months later, underneath my butt incision, the skin is loose and sagging again. I am disappointed that I spent so much money and am not happy with results. What now?
Answer: Residual loose skin after butt lift and thighplasty Allow me to answer your question as best i can based upon your photos. However, please keep in mind that an in-person, or at least a virtual, consultation with physical exam is first necessary before any legitimate evaluation or final surgical recommendations can be made. Buttock “sagging” is usually a combination of loss of volume or deflation (after weight loss, liposuction, or post-BBL) and/or the effect of aging and gravity. So, I personally first treat patients like you by restoring volume to the buttock with a buttock implant. This will create a more desirable smooth and rounded perky buttock profile. If not adding volume with an implant, the buttock will be shortened but may appear more flat and have residual laxity with just a buttock lift. A lower buttock tuck is usually then performed at six months following implants. In this sequence, the implants have fully settled into final position so that any remaining loose skin can be most accurately identified and removed with the lower buttock tuck. Please note, because an extremely few number of board certified plastic surgeons specialize in buttock implants, you may have to travel away from your local area to seek consultation with this particular type of surgeon. Glad to help.

Answer: Loose skin after a thigh lift. Unfortunately there is not too much that can be done for loose skin. You had the excess skin removed but the remainder of the skin is lax from your weight loss and your genes and there is no procedure, despite a lot of advertising, that can tighten loose skin.

Answer: Butt lift Hello! thanks for your question. If not butt implant or BBL. Given the circumstances, the most reasonable thing is that you try to regain the weight to where you were happy, and once you regain your ideal weight then maintain it with exercises aimed at increasing muscle mass. Loose skin is normal after losing a lot of weight, your previous surgery apparently was much anticipated. Good Luck

Answer: Weight loss, increased, aged and appropriate timing for surgery With each year as we get older, we lose skin elasticity. The loss of skin elasticity is similar to skin laxity or you can say loss of skin, elasticity creates skin laxity. Generally, the correct order is to maximize weight loss, then have skin surgery. If you had skin surgery while still obese, then perhaps you had the skin surgery prematurely and now you’ve developed more skin laxity. You can either re-tighten the previous surgeries, or be happy with your weight loss and live life as you are. The aging process continues regardless.Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
