How soon can I Dermaplane After a Chemical Peel?

I got the Enlighten RX peel a couple of weeks ago. Currently I’m mostly peeled, just have light flaking. How soon after the peel Can I dermaplane? And am I able to be exposed to the sun after I do it?

It's a great question because timing really matters after a chemical peel.

If you're still experiencing any flaking, even if it's mild, I would recommend waiting until your skin has completely finished peeling and the skin barrier has fully recovered before dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is a form of physical exfoliation, and doing it too soon after a peel can lead to irritation, prolonged redness, increased sensitivity, or even post-inflammatory pigmentation—especially if your skin is still healing.

For most people, waiting at least 2–4 weeks after a medium-depth peel is reasonable, but the exact timing depends on how your skin is responding. The best sign that you're ready isn't the number of days that have passed—it's that your skin feels smooth, no longer flakes, isn't tender, and has returned to its normal texture.

As for sun exposure, your skin remains more sensitive to UV damage after both a chemical peel and dermaplaning. If you do have dermaplaning, it's especially important to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher), reapply it regularly if you're outdoors, and use additional sun protection such as a hat when possible. While you don't have to avoid going outside completely, minimizing direct sun exposure for the first several days after treatment will help reduce the risk of irritation and unwanted pigmentation.

In your case, since you're still noticing a little flaking, I'd give your skin just a bit more time to finish healing before dermaplaning. A little patience now can help you achieve a smoother result while reducing the risk of unnecessary irritation.
