Damaged nerve on lip - Any surgery to fix this? (photo)

Question

Im a 24 female with a very asymmetrical face due to my top lip. The problem is on my top lip on its right side only. Some morning it’s less swollen than others but for the most part is always bigger than the rest of my lips. Sometime it even has a purple shade to it and I can feel it pulsating, it’s also not as smooth as the rest of my lips it kind of has a bumpy look to it. I want to know if there’s any surgery to fix this because it seems to get brigger with the years.

Thank you for your query. What you seem to have is a venous malformation . An MRI is usually done after a thorough physical examination . This may be  followed by injection of some sclerosing agents after which surgical  debulking of the lip is done. Based on your history it is possible that you have a small vascular malformation in the lip. An imaging study using MRI with arteriography may be helpful to define the cause of your problem. If that is true vascular malformation or similar benign tumor surgical excision is possible. Good luck.
