I recently consulted with a plastic surgeon for breast augmentation. He recommended also doing a breast lift, but said they need to be separate surgeries because the complications are significantly higher when they are done together. Is this true or is he trying to get me to do two sugergies? What does the cdata suggest? I am a healthy, athletic non smoker in my 30s, no pregnancies or prior surgeries.
Answer: Two Seperate Surgeries I often will reccomend this to my patients as well, depending on the thickness of their skin, the size of implant they want, and age. The price is about the same at my office for patients whether they do one surgery or two surgeries, because I honestly recommend spacing them out for the best possible cosmetic outcome. If a patient is lifting and tightening the breast, putting a large implant in during the same surgery creates ALOT of tension on the sutures and wounds. This can cause the scars to spread and widen. It can also cause the areola to widen and have a poor cosmetic result. If a patient has thick skin, and is only looking for a small, natural looking implant, the risk of poor cosmetic results is lower.

Answer: Breast Augmentation Thanks for your question. Every surgeon has a protocol that they follow. Not knowing any specifics of your surgery, it is hard to give you an answer. Reach out to your surgeon for clarification regarding this. Best wishes!

Answer: Case Analysis Hi, Breast augmentation in combination with a breast lift is a safe procedure that it is done in a very secure way. It is important for you to understand that EVERY surgical procedures have risks and potential complications. Understanding the above, and according to each physical examination a surgeon can analyze the risks or potential complications in each case, and can suggest to do it in different procedures to reduce those risks. In some cases when a patient have a lot of tissue to be removed, or a very droopy Nipple Areola Complex, a mastopexy can be advised to be done first, and after you recover you can undergo a breast augmentation. It is important to analyze each case individually, and most importantly to ask you surgeon in case you have any questions.Best regards,Dr. Enrique Quiros

Answer: Splitting surgery I always do my breast lift with implants in one procedure. I always recommend my patients to avoid large implants. Large implants increase the risk of complications, especially with wound healing. This is not medical advice. Because making an individual recommendation without consultation is unethical. I recommend getting a second opinion from another board-certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: Hello I do at least 2 breast lift with implants a week, it has risk, but it’s the same risk that the breast lift has always, some doctors prefer doing separate because they learn to do it in this way, in my case, I prefer always do it together, for me it’s simply and less time of surgery
