Can my nasion be lowered through Rhinoplasty? (photos)

A rhinoplasty will refine your bulbous tip, remove the hump, narrow the bridge, cut the nasal tip depressors, etc. The most important part however is choosing a surgeon who does very natural noses and is very experienced!

Hi Your radix is fairly high but could be improved with a rhinoplasty. It could run from $4000 to as high as $8000 or more. RealSelf has a section that give you estimates of costs for all procedures. Look up the Miami or South Florida area. At our institute, the costs run approximately $5000 depending on the degree of work required. Never let costs determine your surgeon. You need to seek the advise of a board certified surgeon with plenty of experience. Remember this is your face....can't cover it up! Furthermore request to see before and after photos of previous patients by that doctor....not a clinic or surgery center. Do your homework......research and verify the doctor's credentials. Have they had problems with the Board of Medicine, disciplinary or otherwise. Any law suits?How about the center, clinic or facility? Are they accredited by a national organization or do they just have State approval. Understand that at the current time, there are three nationally recognized organizations responsible for the highest levels of patient safety, AAAASF, AAACH and JCHO. You owe it to yourself to position yourself for the best possible results but under the most stringent safety regulations, If you have kids, even more so.How about anesthesia? Will you have a medical doctor certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology or a certified nurse anesthetist (CRNA)? Understand that there is no substitute for research. Cosmetic surgery, no matter how simple it may be to the patients, are invasive procedures and as such carry certain risks and complications.In our office we use TouchMD which is a web based program in which patients have the ability to load their picture unto the program. We accomodate patinets from as far away as California. I then evaluate them and can actually draw on the picture to show a potential patient where the incisions would be located and how the procedure is to be realized. Yes.  Rhinoplasty can improve this.   I would
search for the
board certified plastic surgeon who you
feel is most likely to give you
the best results and who performs hundreds of these procedures each
year. I would look at reviews and before and after pictures on that

You have high and prominent frontalis nasal extension, this is the cause of your high radix; this can be corrected during a rhinoplasty along the rest of features you wish to change on your nose.

Based on your photos- it appears that you would benefit from rhinoplasty. Seek an experienced Board Certified PS for in-person exam, view the surgeon's before/after photos.

Although an examination would provide the information required to give you a definitive answer, the photos show a nose with an overprojected, ptotic, "tension" tip.  As described, the nasion is high and would benefit from surgical lowering.  This required additional surgical maneuvers best addressed by an experienced Rhinoplasty Surgeon.

 The aesthetic goal you describe should be easily accomplished. I would suggest sitting down with plastic surgeon and do video imaging so the two of you know exactly where you want the nose to end up.

Yes, your nasion can and should be lowered at the time of a rhinoplasty. You could reasonably expect a significant improvement in your appearance.

The nasion is simply an extension of the dorsal hump which is composed of both bone and cartilage. The rhinoplasty procedure can address reduction of this with an extended hump removal of the nasion. It's also important to release the depressor septi ligament which may be pulled  the tip down when smiling. It certainly should be addressed along with you tip ptosis and projection. It would be very important for you to have an in depth consultation with computer imaging to see what it would look like. Aggressive lowering of this area will likely lead to your nose having a very shortened appearance which you may not be happy with. You need to be sure you and your surgeon are on the same page before the procedure.
