As long as you are healthy and/or medically cleared, liposuction is usually well tolerated, provided you are a good candidate.Personally, for repeated liposuction, I routinely use Vaser ultrasound. This greatly improves the procedure, its results and recovery. An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.
Regardless of age, our office policy for all clients is safety first. All laser liposuction clients are screened with a set of pre-op labs and an EKG to make sure they are healthy before the laser liposuction procedure. If they have preexisting conditions, their specialist may need to give pre-op clearance as well. We have many clients who have had safe and effective results that are over 80 years old. The ability to exercise post-op to heal well and maintain the results is also important.
In your case, the skin’s elasticity is more important than your age. Even so, your doctor will most likely take into consideration your overall health condition and look at your risk for heart disease, high blood pressure and a few others. CoolSculpting is a good option if you don’t want to undergo general anesthesia but LaserLipo might give you better results since it can also improve skin laxity.
Thank you for your question! Your age is not an issue as long as you are in good health for a non-invasive procedure like fat freezing or laser lipo.
For surgery it depends on your overall health and if you can get clearance from your PCP. Coolsculpting is noninvasive and safe but does require your skin to be elastic which is often missing in older patients
There is no age limit for either CoolSculpting or LaserLipo. What is more important is your overall health status such as medical conditions and current medications, as well as whether your fat deposition is amenable to permanent removal and the firmness/laxity of your skin. One of my favorite former patients was 70 years old when she had LaserLipo for her love handles. She was extremely healthy and exercised regularly. She even walked her usual 5 miles the day after her procedure! LaserLipo can be done using local tumescent anesthesia to remove the risks from general anesthesia and may be able to help skin laxity if that is an issue. CoolSculpting can be used to treat patients who may not be good candidates for anesthesia but will not improve skin laxity although the fat deposition will be reduced about 22%. I would suggest you consult with a physician who is experienced in LaserLipo and CoolSculpting to assess your areas of concern and medical history, so you can determine which treatment will help you to achieve your goals. HIFU procedures are designed to only target the layer of fat that needs to be eliminated. There are no studies done on pregnant women but, the procedure should not harm the organs under the layer of muscle so i don't think there is a need to worry about your pregnancy. However, please mention...
Hello Meems, if you haven't already decided yet where to go, consider doing Ultraslim as a nonsurgical alternative and also as an alternative to Coolsculpting. Although Coolsculpting is nonsurgical, like liposuction, it kills fat cells, put undue strain on your body. Also fat cells...
Thanks for the question, this is a very unique area and you want to see someone who is comfortable with this area. I perform this with local anesthesia and specialized small curved cannulas to get around corners easily and smoothly. A few other things, I always place these patients on blood...
