I am 2 weeks post rhinoplasty I understand that it's too early to judge my nose however I feel like the tip of my nosr has unnecessarily been lifted too much and now my nostrils are more visible making me look scary! My question is would I be able to lower the tip of my nose with silicon-1000. If so, when would it be safe to do this. Lastly, would this reduce the appearance of my nostrils? Many thanks!
Answer: Postop rhinoplasty Thanks for your questions, and including the photos. As the other physicians on this board have also said, it is way to early to do anything about the nose to try to change it again. The healing process in the nose can take months to a year to fully heal. Your immediate postop photo shows that the nasal tip was taped upwards (a very common thing to do) which aids in the healing. Inevitably the tip will relax as the swelling goes down, and it will fall a bit. Continue to have a discussion with your treating physician as he knows your nose the best. Wait till it's completely done changing (at least 6 months, if not a year) before considering any type of further treatment. I would counsel strongly against any silicon in the nose, that has the potential for disaster. If fillers to the nose are sought, make sure you have a provider that knows how to safely perform that. Best of luck.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Rhinoplasty results evolve over time. I would wait 12-15 months after your surgery. It's possible that you are not used to your new nose. Looking at your almost profile picture with no tape, your nostrils look fine actually. Basal view looks very good. Please wait longer and discuss your concerns with your surgeon. I would not do anything at this point other than waiting. Best of luck!

Answer: Do not inject silicone to the tip of your nose Hi,Thank you for including photographs. I want you to pay attention to the second photo where you are 2 days post op; as you can see the tip is taped up... I tell all of my patients that the tip of their nose will appear too high and that it will fall and settle in a much more appropriate position, but this can take at least a month and sometimes longer. My recommendation is for you to remain patient as you are still very much in the healing phase of the rhinoplasty. If after 1 year you feel that the tip of the nose is still too high, the most appropriate treatment is revision surgery. Silicone injections to the tip are challenging to perform, have many potential complications and are unlikely to give you a "derotation" you desire.Hope this information was helpful.Mehdi Sina, MD

Answer: Tip of my nose appears too high and nostrils are more visible. How can this be rectified? 2 weeks post rhinoplasty. Thank you for your question. With any nasal surgery, the name of the game is patience. At one week, we would expect you to have quite a bit of swelling and bruising still noticeable and may have trouble breathing out of one or both nostrils. By the end of two weeks, typically, you will still be swollen but look more like you have a bad cold, rather than post surgical. Swelling can take up to a year to be completely gone, however, by 9 weeks you will look very good and should see big difference from your pre-op pics.

Answer: Rhinoplasty It is far too early to assess the final results from your rhinoplasty. The nasal tip also typically drops over the first several weeks after the splint and tapes are removed. I would not recommend doing anything to your nose until the swelling has resolved and the final shape is revealed (which can take up to 12 months).
