I've had textured allergan bio cell breast implants under the muscle about 14 yrs . I had no illnesses prior, then less than a year after getting them i developed crippling migraines then as yrs went on i got chronic nerve pain in my chest, then my back and last 4 yrs I've got unexplained pudendal type symptoms also i get nerve pain in my feet , basically nerve is wide spread, I've had MRI scans on my back my pelvis and noting explains my symptoms. I've fibromyalgia now too.
Answer: Can breast implant illness cause nerve pain? Hi @Calm3644, thank you for your question. The best thing for your health is to remove the implants as soon as possible as you have had them for 14 years and have developed some autoimmune diseases. I have been performing breast implant removals for suspected BII for 4 years now and I can attest that BII is associated with implants. It is a set of symptoms related to the autoimmune response that it causes in some people, an autoinflammatory response that affects different systems of the body and generates a variety of symptoms. What happens with explant is that after patients have undergone surgery they start to feel better, their symptoms start to reduce. Please find below a video that sheds more light on the subject. Answer: Breast Implant Illness There is still much that we are learning about Breast Implant Illness. The symptom list includes several vague symptoms such as joint pain, fatigue, and skin rashes. Removing the implants may resolve these issues though there is no guarantee. At this time there is no diagnostic test for BII. I encourage you to visit with your board certified plastic surgeon to learn more. I've included a video I hope you find helpful.

Answer: Breast implant illness For those who believe in breast implant illness the list of ailments possible is unlimited. For those who do not believe in breast implant illness there are no associated symptoms. The placebo effect is quite powerful. Before the condition was described, it didn’t exist. All those who have associated symptoms believe they have the condition and the rest don’t. There is no clinical evidence that breast implants make you sick. Lots of people have had lots of medical devices in planted for many many years. Lots of people have lots of ailments and conditions and some have mental attitudes that are prone for being more symptomatic than others. Fibromyalgia is the the same league. The more you engage with the condition, the more it will affect you. The more you disassociate the less symptoms you’ll have. If you believe strongly, then you will have more illness. Different people will have very different opinions and you’ve just heard mine. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
