I've only recently become more aware of how asymmetrical my smile is. One side is downturned and the other is upturned - so naturally 1 side is higher than the other. My top lip also moves in a different direction to my bottom lip. (See photos) I've previously tried Botox in my DAO, which hasn't been super effective. Are there any treatments (surgical/non-surgical) that can correct this?

Answer: Downturned Smile / Permanent Frown -- Combination of Fillers, Botox/Dysport/Jeuveau, RF Treatments (Thermage, Venus Legacy) A downturned smile or permanent frown can be improved with a combination approach, including neuromodulators (such as Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau), injectable fillers, and radiofrequency skin tightening treatments such as Thermage or Venus Legacy. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist to develop a treatment plan that works for you. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Creating a symmetric smile The way people smile depends on the skeletal and muscle anatomy of the face and everyone’s face is a little different. Both sides of the face are never, never the same. Trying to create symmetry. Usually results in dissatisfaction, if not a disaster. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your smile, which is beautiful. Enjoy your life and good luck from New York City Plastic Surgery.
