6 years ago I received an implant in my left breast to correct my breast asymmetry (left: B; right: DD). I have recently lost weight and now my right breast is much smaller than my left. I plan on losing more weight, but I'm afraid the difference will become more noticeable. What can I do to achieve a more permanent solution to breast asymmetry that won't change due to weight loss? And are "touch-ups" typically less expensive than the original procedure? Thank you.

Answer: Breast asymmetry
Breast asymmetry is common. If it is significant and surgical correction with its potential risk factors is a viable option then you should wait until your weight is stable for a number of months. This is especially true if you expect a significant change (over 10%) and you have noticed changes in your breast size or shape that mirrors your previous weight shifts.

Answer: Recorrecting Breast Asymmetry after Weight Loss
That is wonderful that you are accomplishing your personal goal of becoming more healthy with weight loss! It is difficult and for patients that choose to pursue it, it can have much benefits in terms of resolving medical issues such as hypertension, diabetes, etc along with just feeling more energetic and better overall. Because your health is the most important thing, it would be awesome for you to get as close to your goal as possible (check with your doctor about what weight he or she feels is best for you) before getting a surgery to achieve breast symmetry.
Unfortunately if you try to have surgery too soon and then keep losing more weight, you might be asymmetric once again. The best long lasting results for breast and body surgery usually is after the weight has stabilized. The options for surgery will then include a breast lift, implants etc to best achieve your personal results, based on your consultation with your board certified plastic surgeon. Best of Luck and Keep Up the Great Job!!!
