To have a better idea about your case, it is important to check your height and weight, to find out your BMI and see if you are overweight and you need to lose weight in order to be a good candidate for a tummy tuck and hernia repair. Please consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area for better advice.
Thanks for your question. It appears that you have an umbilical hernia but that is not the reason for the abdominal protrusion. Fat that lives on the inside of your abdomen as well as that under the skin contributes to abdominal bulge. In addition if there is muscle separation it can make it more noticeable. Patients who have a BMI of less than 30 are usually candidates to have liposuction of the hips, repair of the umbilical hernia and a TT all at the same time. Find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area that is an ASAPS member and specializes in cosmetic body contouring surgery. The Smart Beauty guide is an excellent resource. Best of Luck!
A TT will produce a nice result for you if you are in good health and your BMI is approximately 30. The umbilical hernia can be repaired at the same time.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Dear josefinepuent,Thank you for your pictures. You actually have a umbilical hernia which could very easily fix during a tummy tuck. But this is not the cause of the pregnant look like you said you have. Most likely you may have some fat and abdominal muscle separation. I recommend you to have a full tummy tuck with the umbilical hernia repair at the same, and also some liposuction to the sides to improve the body shape. Best wishes.
Dear josefinepuent, based on your photos, it looks like you have an umbilical hernia but also you have excess fat and skin so you might be a good candidate for hernia repair and tummy tuck. A small umbilical hernia is something that can be fixed during a full tummy tuck procedure. I routinely repair these during my tummy tuck procedures. Not everyone feels comfortably repairing these however. A mini-tummy tuck does not reset the umbilicus -which it looks like is what you needed to get the results you were looking for. I would have to examine you to be certain. Make sure to follow up with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Thank you for your question. Based on the picture you have umbilical hernia. Your appearance of belly is not from hernia. I recommend you to loose weight. Please see your physician for evaluation and to set you for diet and excercise plan. Good luck
Based on your photograph, you certainly have an umbilical hernia present; the hernia is not responsible for the entire appearance of your abdominal wall wall however. My best advice: start with your primary care physician for a medical workup and recommendations for a healthy diet and exercise plan. You may find the assistance of other professionals, such as nutritionists and personal trainers valuable as well. Repair of the umbilical hernia should be part of your plan. Abdominal wall contouring surgery may be an option, if you have concerns about your abdominal wall appearance, once you have reached your long-term stable weight. Best wishes.
It is possible to sew not only the midline of the Rectus abdominis muscle but also at its lateral borders. This will bring the flanks closer to the midline thus decreasing your waistline. However, more stitches mean longer recovery time and the swelling and bruising could last for more than a f...
You should take your concerns to your surgeon. All scars fade with time, and after tummy tuck surgery this takes 1 - 2 years. Regards, Dr Steve Merten, Australia
With a diagnosis of Lupus you would require medical clearance by doctor that manages your lupus prior to proceeding with any type of major surgery. You should clarify first if you have Lupus and get that cleared up before proceeding with surgery.
