I have just had earfold, and want to know if it's normal that they are bent back and elf like? (Photo)

I had the earfold procedure four days ago, to which the treatment was great. However my concha bowl is swollen,which I understand,because that's where the ear fold is placed..however, both my ears are bent to far back at the top...giving a elf look...is this normal for this early stage, and will they balance out over time..thank you

Dear Maxim,Earfold differs from other procedures in the sense that it is easy, fast and requires hardly any downtime and no bandages. Those are all good points.On the down side: not all ears are suited for the procedure, especially deep conceal bowls and firm cartilage work less well. Absent antithetical fold with malleable cartilage is the best candidate. The nice thing is that  you can preview the results with the prefold, since the result will be very close to that.So i hope that since you posted this you are happy with the result, if not, they can easily be removed and all other otoplasty options are still available to you.Good luck,

It is still early after your procedure and there will be some swelling in the conchal bowl.  You should wait about 2 weeks for this to settle.  The earfold is fixed in terms of how far back it bends back the cartilage.  I normally plan where the earfolds are placed with the patient before the procedure and this helps ensure accurate placement to give the desired result.

From your photos, it looks like your ears were over-folded.  Not knowing what sutures your surgeon used, In can not tell you if the contour of your ears will improve over time.You should return to your surgeon and ask him if he thinks it will improve with time.  If it has only been 4 days since your surgery, I suspect that there will be some improvement.
