The depth of micro needling used to treat a patient will vary, depending on the thickness of the skin and the location of the treatment. When I am treating the face and neck areas, I usually will use depths of 1mm, 2mm and 3mm. In patients trying to achieve some fat reduction under the chin, I will also use 4mm depth in this area. The amount of energy used and the number of passes will also influence the results of a micro needling treatment. I also recommend at least 3 treatment sessions to obtain the beset results.
Microneedling depth will vary depending on patient concerns and treated area. Be sure to have your treatment performed by a trained, experienced professional. She/He will assess your skin and concerns and adjust your treatment to the correct settings to get you optimal results.
Ideally depth of Microneedling should be 1.5mm on the face for optimal results. 1.5mm is where the dermis layer is on the face, we want to induce collagen in the dermis layer.
Microneedling for optimal tightening results should generally stay in a superficial layer of the skin, ranging from 1 to 2 millimeters maximum. It's crucial to adjust the depth based on the thickness of the treated area. For delicate areas like under the eyes, sticking to a maximum of 1 mm is advised. Going deeper, especially beyond 2 mm, requires expertise, as it can risk damaging subcutaneous fat and may lead to undesirable outcomes, making it essential to exercise caution and precision during the procedure.
