I had a few breakouts through my life and I always picked at them, now I have these scars that combined with early wrinkles look awful. What treatments can I do to remove these scars and what kind of scars are they?
Answer: These types of scars can be treated with TCA and resurfacing lasers. Our office has many different treatments for scars depending on the depth of atrophy or hypertrophy. Scars require a combination approach using our HI DEF protocol which uses a combination of lasers, topical scar modulation, and RF treatments to pixelate scars, improve contour, reduce hyperpigmentation, and improve the visibility of the scars so that they are no longer visible in ambient light. Everyone has a unique pattern of scarring and we employ our HIDEF technique to improve texture, color, contour, and topography. We often use a combination of treatments that begin with a careful examination to examine the micro texturing of the acne scars. Atrophic scars and indented scars can benefit from injectable fillers such as Radiesse, Sculptra, and Restylane with or without subcision to remove tethered scars and atrophic depression. Hyper-redness in scars can be improved with V beam laser, Excel V, BBL, IPL, and Venus RF to improve the redness and reduce the visibility of deep scars. Fractional Thulium laser and clear & brilliant can also reduce the inflammation and redness of the scar when combined with topical therapy. Fractional lasers such as Fraxel, erbium, and CO2 laser can be combined with radio frequency and also fractional RF to improve textual issues and microtopography. Subcision and TCA cross are also used for deep ice pick scars and narrow valley scars in order to improve the micro texture. Above all, our combination approach with our clinical nurses and board-certified plastic surgeons can improve the quality of your skin by using at home Melarase creams combined with PRP treatments in our office to improve your skin quality and tone. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced team of experts in order to reduce your scarring. Finally, hyperpigmentation of scars can be improved with at-home Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads to help reduce active PIH and melanin deposition. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Acne Scars Morpheus8 combines microneedling with RF technology to improve overall skin tone and texture. This can help with acne scarring by penetrating and heating the dermis which leads to generation of collagen. See my website or a provider near you to learn more.

Answer: Best treatment for acne scars Thank you for your question. From the photos you posted, it looks like you may have atrophic “pitted/sunken” scars. There are a few different procedures that could be helpful. - Microneedling + RF can help break up old scar tissue while increasing collagen production- Laser Resurfacing procedures can help reduce the size of the scars and smooth/tighten the skin- Subcision + dermal filler can also help to release the scar tissue and fill out any indentations left behindAll of these options can be done individually or can be combined together to achieve optimal results. I would recommend consulting with experienced practitioners that have specialized in the treatment of acne scars. Best of luck to you!

Answer: TCA CROSS For Ice Pick Scars--Safe & Effective In All Skin Types At least from the photos provided, ie pick scars appear to be the predominant scars. If this is indeed so, then TCA CROSS would be an excellent treatment choice. It has near a quarter of a century proven track record for safety and efficacy in all skin types. I have personally been routinely performing it for over twenty-three years for this purpose with extremely gratifying results. You would be wise to make sure to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist and be sure to exercise a great deal of buyer beware caution when being hawked this or that expensive fraxel or RF gizmo, since the hard science to support the use of these expensive energy devices unfortunately lags woefully behind the heavy marketing and social media hype to hawk them. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Answer: Combination treatments Hi and thanks for your question. In a situation like this, we like to combine skin care (including peels), microneedlingRF, possible resurfacing laser treatment, and very superficial filler. The latter is a very advanced technique and few are trained to do it. An alternative is to use smooth threads in that area. Regardless, combining different modalities will more than likely give you the best long term results.
