Is it normal to feel the HA Filler under the skin 2 weeks post injection?

Dr. Injected what she told me was a H.A. Filler just over 2 weeks ago. I can still clearly feel the filler under my skin, and have been left with obvious bumps that she assured me were just caused by swelling, but have not resolved. Is this normal this far in?

Yes, it is normal to feel the filler post-injection.  As long as you don't see it, it is best to leave as is, though a firm massage can lessen it if it bothers you.  You can think of it as scaffolding holding up the skin and preventing it from wrinkling.  The only time I intervene is if you can see the bumps or if it really bothers patients.  There are some newer fillers that you would be less likely to feel and you can request them at your next visit such as refine or juvederm volbella.

Thanks for your question. It is possible to have swelling for 2 weeks, though it should be resolving and improving. Massaging the area should improve the lumpiness to a certain extent, however if the filler was injected superficially or large amount was used then it is better to dissolve it to achieve a softer and smoother look.
