I think I don't have any symmetry they don't resemble breasts? Do they and how could this be corrected? Also my cleavage is very close and I'm worried about having or developing symmastia. What do you think? What can be done about the sides/dents.I lost 26lbs since my mastectomy and feel like this reconstruction needs a total do over!? I seen your professional honest opinions. Thank you so much for your time !
Answer: Breast recon expander to implant You need to give this time, being only 8 days out. These are tricky procedures and you need to be patient. Skin will soften, dents will smooth - maybe not entirely, but some. The breasts are swollen so cleavage will improve. You need to allow at least 4 months for the initial healing and settling. Minor scar revisions and some fat transfer can take care of asymmetries and irregular contours. Nipple reconstruction may also help improve appearance.Good luck.

Answer: Breast recon. Thank you for sending your pictures and question. I think it is too early after surgery to determine the next step. Without the benefit of preop pictures I would recommend waiting for the results to settle. You have a nice result so far and you may be a good candidate for fat transfer to the contour irregularities.

Answer: Breast reconstruction My first choice for reconstruction in patients are large breasted and have a BMI over 34 is to do DIEP flap reconstruction. After reviewing some of my cases you will see a case in particularly that essentially always needed a breast reconstruction but unfortunately developed breast cancer before she could ever have one. She had her bilateral mastectomies and immediate DIEP flap reconstruction. I was then able to reshape the breast to the final result you see on RealSelf. It is worth a consult to determine whether or not you are a candidate and then decide if that is an option you wish to pursue.

Answer: Implant Reconstruction Concerns Thank you for your question. I would recommend waiting 3 months and then explore the option of fat grafting. Once the swelling is down, this will help fill in hollow areas and give a more natural look. I wish you all the best.Dr. Gill
