Can there be complications from miraDry? Is it permanent? How many treatments are needed?

Thank you for your questions.  The treatment is  considered a permanent treatment for underarm sweating.  It will greatly reduce underarm sweating to the point that majority of treated patients will only need one treatment (around 90% of patients will only need one treatment). There will be some bruising, swelling, numbness and tenderness but all will resolve.  There is also a significant reduction in odor, though there had been reports of worsening odor temporarily I have not seen this in my practice.  There is also a significant reduction in hair.  It is my understanding that it has been used on the feet and hands though I have no experience with its use there and it is not yet cleared for those areas.  The price is determined by the individual practices though the usual price is a little less than $2000 for the first treatment, if a second treatment is needed the price is discounted significantly in most practices I believe.

Thank you for your question.As long as you are fit and healthy and have no skin conditions under the arms the risk of complications will be minimal. You will have some degree of bruising, soreness and swelling, sometimes you can have numbness, these symptoms will settle.MiraDry gives a permanent reduction in under arm sweating. It does not increase sweating in other areas. You may require more than one session it achieve your desired result.

Their is no serious complications from doing MiraDry, but their are some common symptoms that occur.  Namely, bruising, swelling, pain, numbness and even little burns if you have any skin tags or moles in the armpits.  Some of these symptoms can persist for a few weeks or months, but all resolve without any serious complications.  
Number of treatments required depend on how severe your excessive sweating has become.  I tell patients that about 85-90% of improvement is seen with just one treatment and it is permanent.   That is enough for many people, but some with severe hyperhidrosis require a 2nd and very rarely a 3rd treatment.  
Cost is about $2000 for the treatment and much cheaper if you need another session.  
It will not make you sweat more from other areas.  You will sweat normally everywhere but the axillae. 
It can’t be used to treat any other sweating areas, except the under arms.
