Facial hair growth is a genetic trait. If you have very little facial hair there isn't much you can do to increase the growth.
Not everyone will grow out a full beard, this is an individual trait. You can ask your father what his facial hair appearance was at age 18. This will give you a better idea of what to expect. At age 18, I would not offer a beard hair transplant.
Many young men want to accelerate their beard growth and ask about it. It takes age (genetic triggers which occur in family lines) so if you want to find out when your beard will grow out, you need to find out when your father or grandfather started to grow their beard. Hormones should have kicked in nicely by the time a man reaches 18 but he must wait out his genetics as hormone alone are not responsible for the onset of beard grown. Beard transplants can be done when the young man is a bit older (over 25) if the beard has not grown in yet
Minoxidil is safe to apply twice a day. It does have some possible side effects, which can include skin irritation. I always recommend a consultation with a hair loss expert. There are great options for hair loss including: progesterone and PRP injections. Best, Dr. Emer
Thanks for your query. Eyebrow hairs do grow back but it depends on your lesion. If it is a scarring lesion then the chances are less for hair to come back but non scarring one where hair follicles are still there, you stand a good chance for all the hair to come back. Hope it helps. All The Best
Alopecia areata is considered an auto-immune related hair loss. There is no medication that can make your hair grow. Steroids are often recommended but there is no clear evidence it may work.
I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
