Tarsys uses decelluarized pig collagen to create a tissue scaffolding. This is used as a space graft. In my opinion it is not a reliable spacer graft. Additionally, I have seen cases of persistent tissue swelling that necessitated the removal of the graft. I have not seen this type of persistent swelling with Alloderm which is also a decelluarized collagen scaffold product used for similar reasons. There are some functional differences. Bottom line, there is much better graft material for an eyelid. I continue to like hard palate graft harvested from the patients mouth for lower eyelid reconstruction. It's difficult to say without the benefit of a formal evaluation. This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. See an expert who does facial shaping with surgical and non surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.
