I recommend fillers to soften the nasolabial folds themselves and also lift around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. In our practice we combine Sculptra with other fillers "layered" on top and lasers, skin tightening treatments such as Thermage, Fractora, and Renuvion (J Plasma), thread lifting, and peels to get the most conservative, natural look. I suggest seeing a facial sculpting expert for a formal consultation. Best, Dr. Emer
Unfortunately, there is no way to completely get rid of the line. Botox can be used to help soften the line and reduce the movement when smiling. I would probably stay away from filler there as it can make you look to full in that area.
Hi, Neurotoxin injections (Botox) can help to smooth out the line that you have. If the line persists after giving the toxin a few weeks to work, a filler, such as Volbella, may help to decrease the crease. Hope this helps!
Botox or Dysport, can help to temporarily. Results last about 3-4 months. For deeper lines, a filler such as Volbella can help as well.
Thanks for your question. A neuromodulator like Botox or Dysport could be used to soften this line.
Botox/Dysport/Xeomin can all be used to try to relax this line that is caused by muscle movement with smile.
Rupe1955, the only thing that I have found that works to help this issue is Botox. The line is due to how the muscles of animation are attached to the skin of the face which is unique to each individual. Fillers don't work; get squeezed out very quickly. Good luck!
Before answering your question, we need to know a few things:1) How long have you noticed this?2) Has it worsened over time?3) Is it present at rest (no facial expression) or only during active smiling?4) Have you ever had any procedures of surgery to the lip or surrounding areas, including botox, fillers, fat grafting, lip lift, lift augmentation, chemical peels, rhinoplasty?Once those questions are answered, we can provide a more complete answer to your problem. With that being said, the treatment for a deep horizontal upper lip crease such as this may include a range of procedures including botox (to relax overactive muscles that pull in a vertical direction), filler or fat grafting (to soften/fill the deep horizontal crease), or a surgical lip lift (to remove excess upper lip skin).Hope this helps,Blake Raggio, MD
Based on the picture you provided I would recommend Botox to minimize the horizontal lip line. The line you are seeing is created by muscle contraction. Botox works by weakening the muscle so it can not contract in the treated area and reduces or eliminates wrinkles affected by muscle contraction.
Neurotoxins, such as Botox or Dysport, can help to temporarily weaken the tightening of the obicularis oris (the muscle around the mouth) and thus soften this line. Results last about 3-4 months. For deeper lines, a filler such as Volbella can help as well.
