Can Botox cause diarrhea and anxiety or am I just sick and neurotic?

It would be highly unlikely your symptoms are due to the Botox.  Patients sometimes complain of headaches after injections into the forehead, but this usually resolves on its own within a day.  Diarrhea would be an even more uncommon side effect.  Your headache could be from the sinus infection and the antibiotic in the z pak could have caused the diarrhea.  Best to contact the doctor who prescribed the z pak.

Hello,Let me start off by saying, Anxiety is common and by the sounds of things you didn't poison yourself! For one, the most common side effect of Botox is Headache. I've recently completed the largest study on Botox and reviewed nearly all the papers. So, this is possibly due to the Botox, but it will resolve in the vast majority of cases. Anxiety on the other hand, would almost never be directly caused by Botox. I would recommend you see your Family Physician and discuss this. But just to reassure you, the odds are your symptoms are unrelated to Botox. It is very unlikely that the Botox has anything to do with anxiety and diarrhea. Don't worry. If you are not feeling better in a week or so I would call your primary physician or whoever it was that prescribed you your antibiotic. Chances are this is just an unfortunate coincidence.

Don't worry, Botox is not the cause of your symptoms.  It is most likely coincidental.  When Botox is administered it stays where it is injected.  It does not cause systemic effects.  In fact, Botox is metabolized locally where it is injected.  After the injection, Botox is absorbed into the surrounding cells and you will see the effect within 3 to 5 days.  Good Luck

Hi Katie,As they say in Australia, "No worries mate!"  The dose of Botox that you have received is very unlikely to be causing your symptoms.  Give it some time and enjoy your less wrinkled appearance.  If your headache continues then see your physician for further evaluation. Thanks for your question.Flu-like symptoms are not uncommon for patients having Botox for the first time.  These could include headaches, runny nose, muscle aches, and a slight temperature.  It does not typically include diarrhea, and this is more likely to have been caused by the antibiotic.  Moreover, antibiotics can reduce the effectiveness of Botox.It really wouldn't be possible to have been poisoned by 48 units of Botox.  If you continue having health issues, however, you should see your doctor.

Botox is unlikely to be the cause of diarrhea. Having had a recent sinus infection (and the Z pack of antibiotics) may be a factor into your symptoms, but you should contact your primary physician today to review your symptoms. Being seen in person is most important. You can also contact the doctor who treated your sinus infection if it is not your primary physician.  Best wishes. 

The digestive system works one two different mechanisms. Sympathetic and parasympathetic signals. The mechanism of action of botox in small amounts would not affect either one. As you know antibiotics can cause a change in your normal intestinal flora, so it is possible there is an association with the sinus infection and antibiotics and your bowel flora. Anxiety can cause an increase in intestinal hormones. If you aren't feeling better call your physician.
