Traveling out of country after BA (Photo)

Question

I'm planning to get 190cc as I'm petite and a big runner. The timing works out great for me to get the surgery done on February 6th. I am planning a trip out of the country on March 13th where I obviously won't have access to my doctor. My doctor said 4 weeks should be plenty of time for the healing before a big trip. This current timeline gives me 5 weeks, but I'm a little nervous about it. I'd love to get it done ASAP, but should I wait until April 1st? (one week after I get back home).

Your surgeon has provided you with the green light. However, you may want to consider a couple of things.

What will you be doing on your trip? If you are planning to be physically active, you may want to consider waiting until after your trip.

What if your recovery doesn’t go smoothly and it takes longer than expected? Your trip may need to be rescheduled in this situation.

I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors.It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.

5 weeks is enough time to recover fully from your breast augmentation. There is always a possibility of a rare complication that could delay your healing and recovery. The decision is up to you, but the February 6th date should be fine.

I believe this is an adequate amount of time if you have no issues or problems in the recovery. I would have a back up plan to see a surgeon or return to see your surgeon if needed in an emergent situation should that arise.

You should have no problem traveling 4-5 weeks after your breast augmentation as long as you have no complications with your surgery. However, you should run or exercise for at least 6 weeks post-op.

Traveling five weeks after your breast augmentation should be fine.  Be aware that you still may have some lifting restrictions in place which may come into play with lifting suitcases and things of that nature.  Speak with your surgeon about the details of your travel plans to get a better idea if the activities you have planned can be enjoyed at 5 weeks post op.
