The surgery is difficult to perform under local. To get the best result, you should be relaxed and not experiencing any pain. Find a BBL expert who performs hundreds of BBLs each year and has great reviews and great before and after pictures.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Thank you for your question. It is difficult to determine without any photos if you are a good candidate for this procedure. Brazilian Buttocks Lifts are usually performed under general anesthesia but sometime can be performed under local depending on the areas of liposuction, time of the procedure, etc. An in person consultation would be necessary to give precise recommendations.
Hello dear!!Thanks for the question. You can have the BBL with a epidural anesthesia, but you probably fall asleep due to sedation. But, i recommend you to ask your plastic surgeon about it and make sure you talk with the anesthesiology about your concerns and doubts.Good luck :)
Honestly, there really isn't a way to do a good thorough BBL awake. Your results will be compromised. I do the majority of my BBLs under TIVA (total IV anesthesia). I have an amazing anesthesiologist!
It is theoretically possible to use local anesthetic and avoid deep IV sedation or general anesthesia. However, it may be preferable to use general anesthesia or deep sedation for your safety, your comfort, and for better surgical precision. For you to be awake and comfortable, the volume of local anesthetic may be more than is safe , may interfere with graft take, and of enough volume to interfere with precise contouring. It is important for you to have your surgeon address your concerns, including your concerns or fears regarding general anesthesia, so you can make an informed decision, and what is the best choice for you.
You must have general anesthesia for a BBL. The discomfort associated with the liposuction and injection demands general anesthesia. In addition the buttocks would need to be injected with local anesthesia and this would confuse good judgement of fat injection. My Best, Dr Commons
Thank you for your question and photos. You might have developed a seroma, which is a fluid build up that can develop after having liposuction surgery. I would advise you see your surgeon and address your concerns . Best of luck to you
When undergoing body contouring procedures make sure you surgeon takes into account how changing one area with affect the overall aesthetic and contour of other areas. For example, if you do liposuction only on the lower abdomen, your upper abdomen can look bigger. The same can be true with BBLs...
For most of my patients, I tell them that at 6 weeks there is still a great deal of swelling in the abdomen, sides, and back (or wherever the liposuction was performed); and they will only look better in 6 months. About 50% of the fat that is transferred lives and becomes a part of you. Th...
