Medicaid and other insurance providers consider a tummy tuck to be an elective cosmetic procedure, making it ineligible for coverage. If you think a tummy tuck is right for you and are concerned about the cost, talk to your plastic surgeon about financing options that might be available to you.
Thanks for your question! Unfortunately, I’m not aware that Medicaid ever covers tummy tucks, as they are considered an elective cosmetic procedure. Call your local plastic surgeon to inquire as to prices and financing options. Best of luck to you!
Unfortunately, Medicaid does not cover tummy tucks since they are considered an elective cosmetic procedure. They may cover a panniculectomy procedure which is a variation of a tummy tuck and essentially just involves amputation of excess skin to the lower abdominal wall. Best to call Plastic Surgery offices in your area and see which ones take Medicaid. I hope that helps and wish you the very best!-Gregory A Buford MD FACSBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
Unfortunately Medicaid and Health Insurance companies do not cover Tummy Tucks as it is considered a cosmetic procedure. Most plastic surgeons offer financing options for the procedures. Good luck!
but sometimes they do cover panniculectomies that produce rashes under the fold of skin. Best to see a surgeon who accepts Medicaid to determine if it will help your cause.
Medicaid and insurance in general do not cover tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) procedures as they are considered to be cosmetic in nature. One specific variant procedure, a panniculectomy, may be covered by some insurance plans as it is done to correct significant medical problems such as skin infections, rashes and skin breakdown related to a large hanging skin bulge often the result of massive weight loss.Of course, you always have the option to pay for a tummy tuck on your own as a cosmetic procedure. Financing plans are available to assist you if you meet the credit requirements.Steven Turkeltaub, MD

But, they will not cover the repair of the rectus muscles which is typically part of a tummy tuck. Hope this helps.
Unfortunately insurance will not cover a tummy tuck surgery. It is a cosmetic procedure. Insurance companies typically cover medically necessary procedures and they see this as an elective make your body better for you surgery. Some patients who have a very large amount of abdominal skin that causes rashes and erosions along the waste line might have that covered by insurance. It is called a panniculectomy and it is not a tummy tuck. All we do is remove the extra skin below the belly button and nothing else is done. Hope this helps. Best of luck!
