Are there risks with choosing a 300 cc size implant for my frame? 95 lbs, 5'5 (photo)

Question

I am a very lean runner. Small chest my whole life and want a C cup. After evaluation, submuscular was recommended and 250 or 285 cc. I want to at least do 285 cc and am considering 300 cc. Any imminent risks choosing this size with my frame? Knowing I will also returning to running after recovery.

Thanks for your question! I'm sure those implants were chosen based on your dimensions, height, weight, skin elasticity, etc. I don't see any issues with those sizes as long as your surgeon feels that they will work surgically. Good luck!

Hello You can have have a breast implant surgery but size of the implants will be defined when you come to the consultation or when you send your photos.

Thank you for sharing this question and this photo. There are various factors like body measurements, body shape, and body frame to consider when it comes to choosing desired implant sizes in order to create the preferred fullness, profile, and shape of the breasts. An examination and fitting would have to be done to find out what best fits you.

I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon who is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and has plenty of experience in breast surgery. Go over your concerns with them and make sure above all, you walk out of there with several options and an idea of the pros and cons to each of them as well as realistic expectations.

285 or 300 would be perfectly suited for your build. These are consider very conservative sizes if you’re worried they may be too large.

breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

Thanks for your question. During a consultation we always measure the base diameter of the patient's breast. We then try to match the diameter of the implant to the diameter of the breast. Going larger than what your anatomy allows can increase the chance of complications. It is difficult to answer your specific question without examining you in person, although you should discuss your concerns directly with your operating surgeon. Take care.

Thank  you for your question.  The best option is to try on the implants and see how they feel and look. There isn't that much difference between 285 and 300cc so if you feel like you want it go with the 300's.

If your surgeon offered 250cc or 285cc as options there is a good chance you could have the 300cc implant.  The main consideration is which would fit the breast space best, giving you the most aesthetic outcome.  The heavier implant may be a bit wider, potentially visible on the lower/outer quadrant, as well as a bit heavier.  I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

Although the 250 cc implant will fit your frame better and be less heavy, you can have the 300 cc implant. Long term, especially with distance running, you may have more sagging, especially to the sides, with 300 cc's because of the weight. I recommend 250 cc's for you.
