This is commonly seen after an abdominoplasty. However make certain that the compressive garments aren't creating a tourniquet effect that could exacerbate this problem. If there is any significant asymmetry in this should be reported to your surgeon.

Thank you for sharing your question.  It is not uncommon to see swelling of the feet and ankles based on the type of compression garment you are wearing.  As the garment reaches to your ankles, it may be a bit tight resulting in the swelling.  Talk to your surgeon about cutting the garment a bit higher to help.  Hope this helps.

Hello dear, thanks for your post and provided information as well. Is really normal to have different part of your body swollen after a surgery. It will depend on the faja too, if is too tight your feet will be more swollen. Is good to have a closed communication with your surgeon tot talk about any concerns.Good luck

Its not unusual at all. First of all the type of garment you are wearing can add to the swelling of the feet as it compresses the thighs and calves. Also after about a week is when the localized swelling in the areas of the surgery starts to mobilize as it works its way out of your body. at this same time you are up and about more, gravity tends to cause this excess fluid to pool around the ankles and feet. Sleep with a couple of pillows under your feet and legs and it should resolve over a week or so.Eric Weiss MD
