Sitting for extended time after liposuction?

If this trip is essential, I would recommend taking breaks whenever possible to stand, stretch, and walk around. Moving helps promote circulation and can reduce swelling. If the bus stops, use these opportunities to get up and walk, even briefly.

You should also wear your compression garment during the ride, as it will help manage swelling and support your body as it heals. This is to reduce the risk of blood clots forming in the legs (deep vein thrombosis) and to minimize swelling and discomfort in the treated areas.

Compression Garments: You'll likely be instructed to wear compression garments following liposuction. These garments help support the treated areas, minimize swelling, and promote proper healing. Wearing compression garments may also provide some cushioning and support when sitting.

Gradual Return to Normal Activities: As you progress through the recovery process, your surgeon will provide guidance on gradually returning to your normal activities, including sitting for longer periods. You need to eait at least 4-5 days before traveling as you will have limited mobility. Tightness around the tummy area is very common during the initial few weeks. It is advised to walk in a hunched-over position for a week or two. Therefore, sitting while traveling by bus is not ideal right after the surgery

I would not recommend a 3 hour bus ride after surgery and anesthesia. You will be very uncomfortable and at risk for blood clots, dehydration, etc. Normal post op sitting for short times with getting up frequently is very important.

Also- far distance makes routine post operative care difficult you have any issues.

We cannot discharge patients without an escort accompanying them and staying with them so patients are not alone.

Most of our out of state patients will stay overnight nearby with their escort and be checked at the office in the morning before traveling home. Follow up arrangements are made as well for the months after Vaser liposuction.

I would recommend a plastic surgeon closer to home to avoid these issues. If not, stay near by with a friend or family instead of bussing back right away,

Most providers will have patients sit on a BBL pillow after the procedure.
I generally do not recommend people travel long distances for elective surgical procedures. If you do, you should at least have an in person consultation prior to having a procedure. Discuss with your provider.
