Hello, I had vaser lipo to my outerthighs, saddlebags, bananarolls 10mo ago. I developed folds and rolls after the swelling was gone especially at the posterior thigh buttock junction. I feel that my skin isn’t adapted to the area. What are my treatment options to solve this? Surgeon refuses to do any procedures and only advised working out to enlarge the muscles so the skin tightens but I have only seen slight improvement. Any skin tightening procedures recommended?
Answer: I recommend undergoing a skin tightening procedure like ... Hello, This issue has resulted from oversuction in the banana fold area and the absence of an additional skin tightening treatment (such as Renuvion, Bodytite, or laser). Unfortunately, it is not very easy to correct. At this stage, I recommend undergoing a skin tightening procedure like Morpheus 8, applied monthly for 8-10 sessions.

Answer: Yes they are skin procedures Yes they are skin tightening procedures which can be tried. If your surgeon refuses any further treatment you can talk to other surgeon to get second opinion. I can think of renuvion skin tightening treatment or Argon Plasma skin tightening

Answer: Inappropriat Liposuction Fat should not be removed from the banana roll. This area is often misunderstood, and the area typically responds poorly to having fat removal. To make an accurate assessment regarding the outcome of any plastic surgery procedure we always need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures, then ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. Fat should not have been removed from your banana roll. The contour problem in this in that area was probably much more likely due to skin redundancy that happens in an upright, standing position. With full hip flexion the skin is pulled tight and the contour is different. If you now flex your hips you will probably notice there is a fat deficit. The area is complex and not always easily understood. Contour issues of the upper part of the thigh especially posterior aspect are generally related to skin redundancy and fat removal does not fix the problem, but creates new issues that are typically undesirable, look unnatural and don’t fix the primary problem. Inappropriate liposuction of the banana roll is unfortunately commonly performed usually with undesirable outcomes. Most likely the best way to improve the contour is grafting fat, restoring the fat distribution that should not have been manipulated. Delivering consistent quality, Liposuction result is far more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who have mastered this procedure are in a small minority. Revision Work is many times more difficult and Primary Liposuction. Finding a provider who has sufficient skills to improve the contour is going to be difficult. Not only does the provider need to have a proven background with Liposuction, but also fat transfer. Unless you’re absolutely sure you’re able to find someone who is truly mastered this type of work you probably should consider leaving good enough alone and not having more surgery. Anybody who thinks this is easy to correct or that it can be fixed with more Liposuction or you think some energy Technology such as VASER is most likely going to make things worse. The following are some general guidelines to help find the best providers. These should be helpful for those looking for primary procedures, as well as Revision Work. To find the best provider, I suggest patient schedule multiple in person consultations with experienced plastic surgeons in their community. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body or facial characteristics to your own. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. An experienced provider should in fact have hundreds or preferably thousands of before and after pictures to choose from for commonly performed procedures. Being shown a handful of preselected images, representing the best results of a provider’s career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results will look like in the hands of each provider. There is no correct number of consultations needed to find the best provider. The more consultations you scheduled the more likely you are to find the best provider for your needs. Take careful notes during each consultation, especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after pictures. It’s not a bad idea to bring pictures of your own body/face to use as reference when reviewing before and after pictures. The biggest mistake patients make is scheduling only one consultation without properly vetting or comparing providers before scheduling surgery. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
