I developed Sculptra bumps on my face. Is there an at-home method of treatment or self resolved? (Photo)

Hello,As the other panel members suggested, it would appear that these lesions/bumps are not related to the Sculptra product itself being that residual bumps are realized over time and usually exist quite deeper wherein they are felt rather than seen. However, if you have not had acne lesions such as this before, and this is a NEW condition following the Sculptra treatment, we recommend that you return to your injector to be evaluated for a possible skin infection.  Whether acne lesions or a skin infection as a result of injections, your physician injector should have an opportunity to evaluate you and make the proper recommendations.  Please visit our link below:

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Based on your pictures alone these bumps appear more consistent with an acute acne flare than Sculptra bumps, which typically take several weeks to months to form.  See your dermatologist for an in-person evaluation to discuss.

I would say that the cause of the bumps on your face is more likely to be due to acne rather than the Scuptra you had last month.  Bumps caused by Sculptra are usually not red, as yours are.  Your bumps appear to be acne.  You could see a dermatologist for help with treating your acne.

As others have mentioned, from your photos it appears much more consistent with an acne flare as opposed to Sculptra bumps. Regardless, I would advise a follow-up with the doctor who performed the treatment - particularly if he/she is a dermatologist, they can advise you on acne treatment as well.

These do not look like Sculptra nodules and the time course does not fit as Sculptra nodules are usually seen 1-2 months after treatment. This looks like acne or possibly some other skin infection which should be treated by a physician.

I don't think that what you are showing are Sculptra nodules. It is less than a month after injections. Sculptra nodules are collections of collagen and it takes months for those to form. This looks like acne or some other kind of infection that needs to be treated by a physician.

Thank you for your question, and for submitting photos.  Rarely, patients treated with Sculptra can develop nodules underneath the skin, weeks or months after injection.  For the most part, these nodules are generally not visible on the surface, and can only be felt when rubbing or pressing on the area.  It's difficult tell for sure whether or not you have any true Sculptra nodules from the photos (as most Sculptra nodules are not visible on the surface of the skin) - most of what I see looks more like cystic acne.  I would recommend that you schedule a consultation with a cosmetic dermatologist to discuss whether or not you have any Sculptra nodules, and to help treat your acne breakout.  Best of luck!

One of the potential side effects of Sculptra are nodules. It is difficult to tell from the photos if this is acne which is much more likely given the surface involvement.  Please consult a board certified cosmetic dermatologist to evaluate your skin and help treat your acne before it scars.  Best, Dr. Green
