Liposuction permanently depletes the population of fat cells in a treated area. These cells are removed (and in the case of laser and US destroyed) achieving a more pleasing contour. These results cannot technically be reversed. However, the remaining fat cells have the potential to swell and are thus not immune to weight gain. There are, however, means available to correct contour deformities secondary to over-resection. Revision liposuction can be preformed to smooth more prominent areas. Additionally fat transfer can be employed to fill irregularities (using fat harvested from areas of relative excess and transferring to deficient areas). As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon.
It is impossible to reverse liposuction but you can use fat or fillers to help improve irregularities or large contour defects and often other types of liposuction to camoflage or reshape the area. Best, Dr. Emer.
Hello,Liposuction can be "reversed" with fat grafting. It takes skill and experience to replace fat evenly to obtain smooth results. In fact fat grafting was first undertaken for cases in which irregularities were created or too much fat was removed.Regards,Dr. Pedy GanchiVillage Plastic Surgery
Thank you for your excellent question. If a particular portion of the body has too much fat removed through liposuction it can be "reversed" by having fat grafting to the area to help restore volume and contour. Occasionally both liposuction and fat grafting has to be performed to lead to the best results. Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon in consultation to discuss your treatment options. Best wishes
Unfortunately you cannot reverse liposuction. During the procedure the fat cells that are taken away are removed permanently. However, if you eat too much the fat cells that remain will enlarge. Since eating too much is not the ideal thing to do, if there is a real issue, fat can possibly be harvested from another area and injected into your liposuctioned area to fill it some.
Yessii,Thanks for your question. It seems that you are unhappy with what was done already. If this is the case, then yes, fat can be reoved from one area and placed in another. It is more difficult to put fat back than to remove it. Hopefully, it is only localized areas that you desire fat placed.Dr. T
It is difficult to reverse liposuction since the fat that has been removed is permanently gone. However if too much fat was taken out or if there is a significant contour defect and this can be corrected by transferring fat from other parts of the body. This is usually a little bit more involved since another area has to be "liposuctioned" and the fat collected, processed then transferred to the area that needs to be corrected. Attention important to see someone with experience doing that kind of procedure.
I think you mean can you take fat from one area of the leg and use it on another? The answer is yes, usually.
Hello dear, thanks for your question and providedinformation as well.. This is the surgicalprocedure that revolutionized cosmetic surgery becoming one of the mostperformed cosmetic procedures. Subcutaneous tissue or fat is removed in orderto contour the body in a way that is harmonious and pleasing to the senses. Itcan be performed in almost all regions of the body such as the neck, chin, abdomen, back, buttocks, thighs, arms and ankles. Usually done through a smallincision in the skin through which a cannula connected to a vacuum is applied,it can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures. Afterliposuction your body is going to be really swollen for at least 2 to 4 monthsafter your surgery. It is important for you to wear your compression garmentfor at least 6 months, the first 3 months 24/7 and then the last 3 months atleast 12 hours per day for your body get use to not having the faja for so manytime. When you remove it, your body can get swollen and also you can have pain.Remember to also compress your body to prevent a seroma which is anaccumulation of liquid that has to be drained, it is hard to touch and alsoreally painful. Bruises are completely normal for almost 3 months from surgery, that’s why is better for you to use a bruising cream and apply it all over yourbody 3 times a day. To prevent bad circulation and swollen legs, usecompression socks. Brazilian butt lift can be performed with the same procedureand for a month it will be swollen and it will drop a little bit without losingit’s shape if you use your garment.. If you’re going to perform liposuction onyour inner, outer, anterior, lateral, postetior thighs, be careful and consultwith your surgeon what’s best for you, sometimes we have more extra skin thanfat, that can cause severe sagginess on our legs, which can be only be reversedperforming a thigh lift, Hugs!
For my hi definition procedures and any type of liposuction I do not allow patients to be alone the first 24-72 hours as you can get vasovagal due to fluid shifting and pass out very easily. Especially if you take the garment on / off to quickly. I suggest formal post operative care. Best, Dr...
