Would I be able to recover on my own for the first 24 hours after my lipo? I'm getting lipo done on my arms, abdomen and flanks

Generally in cases such as yours, where liposuction is being performed in different areas of the body including arms, it is recommended to have someone with you 24 hours post surgery. You may have some discomfort immediately post-op and will need someone to assist you with small things. Also depending the type of anesthesia being used, this can be a factor whether you will need to have someone with you the day of your procedure. It's always better to be on the safe side regardless of how big or small you think the procedure may be. Upon consulting a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, your physician will be able confirm how much liposuction will be performed and what anesthesia will be used in order to provide you the proper post surgical instructions. For my hi definition procedures and any type of liposuction I do not allow patients to be alone the first 24-72 hours as you can get vasovagal due to fluid shifting and pass out very easily.  Especially if you take the garment on / off to quickly.  I suggest formal post operative care.  Best, Dr. Emer.

You should have a reliable caretaker for at least 24-48 hours after the surgery. The post-op instructions should be given at the pre-op appointment. Make sure you discuss it with your Board Certified PS

If you are having general anesthesia or twilight sedation, you should absolutely have someone nearby who can help you up in case you are dizzy or fall and who can help you monitor your use of pain medication. If you don't have anyone, there are agencies that can send A medical assistant or a nurse. They have reasonable prices and can even arrange rides. If your procedure is for small volumes and is done without anesthesia, you may be just fine on your own. The best thing todo is to check with your doctor. When it comes to safety, you are better off being safe than sorry.

procedure that revolutionized cosmetic surgery becoming one of the most

time. When you remove it, your body can get swollen and also you can have pain.

really painful. Bruises are completely normal for almost 3 months from surgery,
that’s why is better for you to use a bruising cream and apply it all over your
body 3 times a day. To prevent bad circulation and swollen legs, use
compression socks. Brazilian butt lift can be performed with the same procedure
and for a month it will be swollen and it will drop a little bit without losing
it’s shape if you use your garment.. If you’re going to perform liposuction on
your inner, outer, anterior, lateral, postetior thighs, be careful and consult
with your surgeon what’s best for you, sometimes we have more extra skin than
fat, that can cause severe sagginess on our legs, which can be only be reversed

For any person that has had general anesthesia, it is recommended that you not be alone for the first night.  For even longer than that, you might benefit from someone close by to help you with all the tasks we take for granted.

No. It is important to have a responsible adult for at least the first night. Many patients can experience lightheadedness/fainting/nausea etc and may require help.Suppose you stand up, feel lightheaded and fall and hit your head on furniture?You need someone there.

I insist that all my patients having general or sedation have someone with them for the first 24 hours.  This is to make sure they take their medications appropriately and are helped to the bathroom.  If a friend can't be there then I would definitely ask your surgeon if they have an agency or person they use to take care of you.
