I am hoping/wondering, especially in flank area if there is still selling that will go down? I feel like I look so wide, it's definitely flatter, but I thought my flanks would have more of a difference?

A typical abdominoplasty is a powerful procedure that often removes and reposition tissue of the abdominal wall for better contour and aesthetics. After an abdominoplasty, the skin swells from the trauma of surgery as fluid collects and the tissues become edematous. This can often lead to small contour irregularities in the early post-operative period. These irregularities often settle out as the swelling resolves and the tissues soften. It will take 3 to 6 months to see a final result. Close follow-up with the surgeon is essential.

At this early time after tummy tuck the amount of swelling is not of any concern.  The swelling will continue to go down over a period of 6 months.

The best view of the flanks is usually from behind. At 23 days postop, you are still certainly swollen and your contour should improve. It will likely take 3-6 months to see your final results. Follow up with your surgeon as directed to get their assessment of your progress. This will also allow you to evaluate medical grade pictures of what you looked like before and now after surgery to help monitor the resolution of your swelling and evolution of your contour.

The lumpiness, swelling, itching and hardness after a surgery like you had typically persists at least 6-8 weeks after the surgery then slowly goes away. In my experience, daily massage of the hard areas makes the biggest difference in getting rid of it sooner rather than later. It can easily take 3-6 months to see results. I tell my patients to be careful about salt intake as this can make swelling worse. Be sure to keep any scheduled follow up appointments you have with your surgeons for his evaluation and advice.
