2 days ago I had a BA and lipo on the stomach. yesterday I noticed that my pubic area was beginning to swell (this part did not get any lipo) so I called the doc this morning, and was told that this was a relatively normal occurrence. BUT, by late this afternoon, i was more swollen, and now its a lovely swollen purple color. it really doesn't hurt much, just a tad sore. Is this just the natural progression of things? at what point should I be concerned?
Answer: Swelling and bruising after liposuction Swelling and bruising in the groin area is very common for both men and women following abdominal liposuction. This can be quite surprising and frightening for the patient if they are not informed in advance but rest assured, it will resolve and everything will look normal again. Wearing a liposuction garment which compresses the abdomen will cause the swelling to present in the dependent areas where you are not wearing the compression garment. The more active you are and the more time you spend on your feet can increase the swelling in this area.Best of luck,

CONTACT NOW Answer: Bruising In Groin After Tummy Liposuction Bruising and swelling of that degree are normal in the suctioned areas and usually increase slightly after the removal of any tape or foam. Bruising tends to gravitate to the groin after #liposuction and I agree with your surgeon that this is a normal phenomena. The bruising will decrease over 3-4 weeks, but may last as long as 6 weeks. The majority of the swelling will be gone within the first 3-4 weeks. However it may take 6-9 months to disappear completely. The compression garment helps reduce the swelling, and the longer it is worn, the more quickly the process will proceed. If the problem does not improve, notify your plastic surgeon and get it examined.

Answer: Blood runs downhill after liposuction Thank you for your question. Some bleeding occurs during and for a while after a liposuction procedure. You don't see the bruising immediately because the blood is deep and takes a while to work its way out to the skin at which time you see bruising. This blood also moves along the natural tissue planes of the body. When liposuction is done on the thighs, even though the procedure does typically go below the mid-thigh level, it is not unusual to get bruising that goes below the knees simply because the blood moves downhill with gravity. This means that, when liposuction is done on the abdomen, the blood and, therefore the bruising, runs down into the groin. Everything down there will become purple and swollen a few days after liposuction of the abdomen. This should not cause any issues and will typically go away in a few days. You should become concerned if it becomes more swollen, red and painful or if you start having fevers. Then call your surgeon.
