Feeling like I have foreign body in my butt. Any suggestions?

I'm 13 days out from a bbl and no one here has mentioned the most uncomfortable part for me and that is this feeling across (inside) the rear incision that feels like a foreign body and makes it uncomfortable to sit, lean back, sleep. How long will this last?! I can't handle it, with the front swollen and painful, look on hips and thighs bruised and painful, only sitting is "comfortable" but I have to lean forward so there is no pressure on rear incision!

Since there has been a change in your post op course, please contact your surgeon so he/she can examine you and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan at this time.

Thank you for your question. Sorry to hear that you are having a rough recovery. From your description it sounds that you are a bit more bruised and swollen than is typical at this stage of your recovery. That foreign body feeling will improve with time as the swelling and bruising resolves.  Unfortunately, diuretics and steroids have not been shown to be effective for this type of swelling. You will need to be patient and give your body time to heal.  Best wishes on your recovery.

You are still early in the healing process, it can take up to six months to see your final results, so please be patient. At the stage you are in, inflammation, discomfort and irregularities are normal.
If you have any concerns, please follow up close with your plastic surgeon.

It could all be from swelling or something more like from fat necrosis. Best to review with your surgeon.

It is common to experience swelling after fat grafting, especially high volume to the buttocks.  My patients refrain from sitting more than 20 minutes for the first two weeks. Discomfort lasts at least two weeks but up 8 weeks.   You may consider some anti inflammatory medication for the swelling, but should have the surgeon evaluate the area of concern to ensure there are no areas of fat necrosis or other issues causing your pain.

Recovery from a buttock implant or liposuction with fat transfer can take 5-8 weeks to start feeling completely normal.  Usually we advise patients not to sit down until 2 weeks post op.  When patients are ready to sit we usually advise sitting for less than an hour at a time & slowly easing into sitting for longer durations of time.  As well as sitting at the edge of seats so most of the weight is resting on the upper thighs and lower buttocks.  If you are in an amount of pain significant enough to be unbearable, it's best you call your surgeon to guide you on what's recommended.Best of Luck with the rest of your healing.
