I personally would have no problem with you taking the medications listed. This decision however rests in the hands of your surgeon and anesthesiologist.
I am not sure why you'd need epidural anesthesia, regardless, there is no reason you cant take antihistamines. But I suggest speaking to your physician. Best, Dr. Emer.
Despite having an epidural, you will still need to be NPO (nothing per oral) for several hours before this procedure. However, if you are referring to the days and many hours before the operation is scheduled, then I am not aware of any restrictions for such medication. I think that would be fine.
Typically you will want to check with your PS and the Anesthesia provider regarding this. I typically inform my patients that Zyrtec, Allegra, or Benadryl are ok. But not to eat or drink anything 8 hours prior to your scheduled procedure. Thank you for your question.

There isn't a problem, but it depends if you're having an acute episode, you shouldn't. Also I wouldn't recommend using the same incision as were they take out the gallbladder. This is very unconventional.
