Uncontrolled high blood pressure, uncontrolled diabetes, uncontrolled asthma, and many more can be contraindications to surgery.
Cosmetic surgery is real surgery and there are real risks. It is important to consult with an experienced doctor, preferably one board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. By being board-certified that doctor has demonstrated a high level of proficiency and patient safety. There are indeed many medical reasons that would make cosmetic surgery risky--uncontrolled high blood pressure or diabetes, heart disease, blood clotting disorders, obesity, sleep apnea, lung problems, psychological disorders, etc. to name a few. In addition to an evaluation by a surgeon, most patients will have some pre-operative medical exam by a primary care doctor to make sure any medical conditions are optimized prior to surgery.
Hello Thanks for the question and provided information as well. It is possible that some medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart problems and obesity would not allow you to perform a BBL, that is why, before surgery, evaluations and tests are done to determine the medical condition of the patients.I recommend you to make an appointment with a board plastic surgeon for a good evaluation and to talk about your goals. Good luck :)
Thank you for your awesome question! Without the benefit of knowing your full health history and an in person exam it's impossible to say for certain. Talk to your surgeon & discuss your concerns. I perform many BBL plastic surgeries on patients from all over the country. I would recommend you have an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon with these credentials: *Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery -- The gold star symbol *A member of the ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons) -- The circle symbol *A member of the ASAPS (American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) -- the Queen Nefertitti symbol with a Triangle *On faculty at local plastic surgery teaching program -- affiliated with both Duke and UNC schools of plastic surgery. I hope this is helpful and wish you all the best in your journey. My sincere best, Brian S. Coan, MD, FACS
Thank you for the question and the information provided.Yes, it is possible that for some medical condition a BBL can not be performed, before the surgery you will be doing different evaluations and laboratory tests to determine your health condition, as well as an evaluation by the cardiologist who will authorize the procedure if everything is all right.I recommend you to make a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Best Wishes.
Hi dear, Thanks for the questions. Yes, it is possible that for medical reasons the procedure can not be performed, the most important thing is the patient's health as well as his life, there are various conditions such as high blood pressure, heart problems and other diseases that could increase the risks and complications during and after surgery. I hope this advice helps you. Best wishes.- Manuel Belén, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
