The appearance of the implant on the CT seems to be high. Generally, chin implants should be positioned on the lowest part of the chin. Greater projection of the chin would be achieved with the implant in an inferior position. The implant can be repositioned.
Your implant is not positioned properly.I’m guessing your procedure was done with an intro oral approach. The implant sits right over your mental nerve openings. Are you having numbness of your chin or lip?Ideally the implant should be at the lowest in border of the mandible. if the goal is to give both vertical and horizontal projection then it should be slightly below that. Talk to your surgeon about having a revision or consider getting a proper second opinion consultation. For a second opinion consultations patients should come prepared bringing with them all before and after pictures and a copy of your operative port as well as radiographic information like your CT scan. Before and after pictures and a copy of your operative report can be obtained by your current surgeon if you contact their office and ask to forward your medical records.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
