Restylane filler is our preferred option for under-eye treatment due to several reasons:Hydration and Volume Restoration: The under-eye area is delicate and prone to hollowing or sagging with age. Restylane, made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the body, provides hydration and restores volume to this area. This helps to plump up hollows and reduce the appearance of dark circles or bags under the eyes.Smooth and Natural Results: Restylane is known for its smooth gel consistency, which allows for precise placement and blending with the surrounding tissue. This helps to achieve natural-looking results without a "pillowy" or overfilled appearance, particularly important for such a visible and delicate area as the under eyes.Longevity with Flexibility: While results vary depending on individual metabolism and the specific product used, Restylane fillers typically last around 6-12 months in the under-eye area. Additionally, if adjustments are desired or if the filler needs to be dissolved for any reason, hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, giving us flexibility and control over the outcome.Minimal Downtime and Side Effects: Compared to surgical options for under-eye rejuvenation, such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), using Restylane fillers involves minimal downtime and fewer risks. Temporary side effects like swelling, bruising, or redness are common but typically resolve within a few days to a week.
Without a picture, it is hard to know if you are a candidate or not. I would schedule a consultation with your trusted provider for evaluation.
Thank you for sharing your question. Sometimes times surgery is required to treat the tear troughs, but fillers often do a great job. This region is a delicate area requiring an experienced injector’s touch. Make an appointment with an experienced oculoplastic surgeon for comprehensive evaluation and guidance. Good luck!
Hyaluronic acid fillers are the best and safest type of filler to inject in the tear troughs, and the specific filler which will produce the best results depends on your skin thickness and tone, presence or absence of pseudoherniated lower eyelid fat, and the degree of volume deficit. In patients with thin or very fair skin, superficial injections should be avoided to limit the resulting bluish discoloration from the Tyndall effect. Restylane, Belotero, Juvederm Vollure are some of the many options that can create nice results.
Under eye fillers are very popular and can make a beautiful difference in improving under eye contours. The key is selecting an experienced expert injector for your treatment. She/He will help select the correct filler based on your needs. I've included a video that I hope you find helpful.
As a general rule, injecting, hyaluronic acid filler of any kind into the tear trough results and undesirable results as a long term. For these reasons, I recommend using your own fat. When fat grafting is done by an expert in such techniques, Plastic Surgeon, the results are natural and practically permanent. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City Plastic Surgery.
