About five weeks ago, I had Botox injections that were supposed to help with wrinkles around my mouth. This week I noticed I can’t really smile, and when I do, it’s very unattractive. My smile was one of the only things I liked about my appearance. I’ve read you can’t undo Botox. Does it always wear off? I’m scared I’ll be this way forever.

Answer: It will wear off. Botox around the mouth is often a terrible idea. Injectors often underestimate who depressed people become when there are side effects from these treatments. I strongly advise patients to avoid this type of service. This treatment is only temporary. You had service 5 weeks ago. Unfortunately, treatment effect is maximum at this moment and it will take perhaps another 5 weeks for the effects to noticibly fade but some effects can linger as long as 4 to 6 months. There is no way to speed this process up. I recommend that you find a different injector and don't let anyone inject you with Botox around the mouth in the future.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.
