I have developed some asymmetry as I have entered my 30s. Of particular annoyance to me is this line by the right side of my lip. It is less noticeable when my face is engaged/smiling. It seems to be associated with a "fat pad" and maybe some early jowling? I have had lip filler in the past (over a year ago). Could it be filler migration? If no, is this something fixable with botox and/or filler? Or perhaps a minilift?
Answer: Botox is only useful for treating wrinkles in the upper 1/3 of your face. If you are looking to eliminate the appearance of your left nasolabial wrinkle, Botox would not be the solution. Botox is a muscle paralyzing agent and that could result in a crooked smile if used in your area of concern. Potentially, injectable fillers might be helpful, but an examination would be necessary. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Lip line/crease Sometimes this can occur after filler placement and is due to swelling. If filler placement is has been greater than 2 weeks, you may want to consider some support to this area with a small amount of filler. Filler for this crease would not be injected into the lip, just in the crease to soften the crease and support the upper lip.

Answer: Both Thanks for the questions. The resolution on the photos makes it hard to see the line, but this is likely development of a nasolabial fold crease and marionette line. This can be improved with a combination of botox and filler. you could be a candidate for a minilift if you're developing some early jowling but a close physical exam is needed to confirm.

Answer: Asymmetry We all have facial asymmetry to some degree. Fillers may help to give you better balance. You can consider adding Morpheus8 treatments to help address overall skin tone and texture. To keep skin looking it's best we also recommend using medical grade skin care products like Transform MD and wearing sunscreen every day.

Answer: 30s, is Botox a fix for this type of wrinkling? Facial asymmetry can be due to a variety of factors, including natural aging, changes in fat distribution, or effects from previous treatments such as filler injections. A line by the side of your lip could indeed be related to changes in your facial fat pads, early jowling, or possibly filler migration, though the latter is less common. Non-surgical treatments like Botox or fillers could potentially help to improve the appearance of the line. Botox can relax the muscles that might be contributing to the line, while fillers can add volume to the area and smooth out the skin. However, these treatments won't address any potential underlying issues like changes in fat distribution or early jowling. A mini facelift, on the other hand, could provide a more comprehensive and longer-lasting solution. This surgical procedure can tighten the skin, reduce jowling, and improve the overall contour of the face. Ultimately, the best course of action would be to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist. They can assess your face, discuss your concerns and goals, and provide personalized advice. They might also recommend a combination approach, such as using Botox or fillers first and then considering a mini facelift down the line if needed.
