2 months post. Will an underwire bra help to shape my new breasts a little better? (photo)

Dear BriniD,every surgeon has a preferred type of bra that they let their patients wear after surgery, as this would depend on various factors like the type of surgery performed and the size of the implant used. BrindiD.  You are still too early from the surgery and still have quite a bit of swelling.  It takes 3 to 6 months for all the swelling to go away, at which point the final assessment can be made.  You do have a nice result, and yes currently there is some excessive fullness in the lower outer portion of the breast.  A bra is not going to help, and wearing a bra 24/7 is going to accomplish very little besides cause you discomfort.  Be patient, and make sure to schedule a 3 to 6 month follow up appointment with the same plastic surgeon who did your reduction.  Hope this helps.

Brass can slowly improve the shape if you wear a bra that is shaping. You will not lose tissue unless you have weight loss. However, some lateral excess tissue could be trimmed in the office. Please discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

First, it looks like you have a very nice result. I doubt that the bra will shape your breast in the area that you point out. You are only 2 months out and it takes many months for the breast to shape. As time passes I am sure it will improve. As far as your breasts getting smaller with time, this probably will not happen unless there is residual swelling. At 2 months this would be unlikely. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question and photos. You do appear to have a very nice result. An underwire bra at this point will not alter the shape of the breast.  I do see the fullness in the lateral inferior side of the breast. I agree with the watchfull waiting approach. Give it time - 6  months or so to see how things settle out. If it remains bothersome to you, I agree that a  little "touch up" liposuction in the area may help with the fullness. Now remember, sometimes the enemy of good is better. Sometimes hopes of improving with a revision can end up with unfavorable results. My best recommendation to you is to keep in touch with your surgeon. He or she wants you to be happy and will steer you in the right direction. Best wishes, Dr. Morrissey
