I have a lot of these small telangiectasias all over my face that I've had since childhood. I'd like to finally get them treated, along with the blue veins under my eyes. With these small veins of this scope I'm not sure if I should get treatment with sclerotherapy or laser. There are a couple clinics near me that provide treatment with Cutera laser but I'm not sure what laser I should be looking for treatment with. I have heard mixed reviews about YAG laser.
Answer: Better treatments for facial veins I often treat visible facial veins using either the Vbeam or CoolTouch Varia laser. These two devices are designed to target the blood inside of visible veins, coagulating the vessel so it collapses. The body reabsorbs the treated vein so it disappears from view. Surrounding skin and tissue remain undamaged. The VBeam is great for small vessels and flushing while the CoolTouch Varia is ideal for the blue veins. I encourage you to schedule a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist with expertise in laser treatment of facial veins. Sclerotherapy is not ideal for facial veins and lasers are safer and more effective.

Answer: Best Treatments for Facial Veins I often use a vascular laser like the Vbeam Perfecta to treat visible facial veins. This device is adept at targeting the blood inside the vessel to eliminate the vein without damaging surrounding skin and tissue. The veins near your eye could also be treated with the Clear + Brilliant laser, which is another device designed specifically to treat facial veins. Make sure you work with a board-certified dermatologist with expertise in facial vein treatments to ensure an optimal outcome.

Answer: Palomar IPL is Great! We use a a fotofacial setting or our spider vein 1064 handpiece, depending on size, but blue reticular veins require a small sclerotherapy injection. So a combination problem, needs a combination treatment!

Answer: Facial veins Hi, cclarke1, I have had much success treating facial telangiectasias with VeinWave, a noninvasive radiofrequency pen-like insulated needle treatment. Tiny vessels will be destroyed and disappear quickly. Most procedures take between 10 and 15 minutes to perform, and no bandages are required following the procedure. Because the VeinWave procedure uses a very, fine needle, most patients experience some discomfort during the procedure, which is described as a brief pin-prick, or even a rubber-band zing; however, the discomfort is minimal and tolerable. I have yet to see any laser or other treatments that provide such quick and complete results as the VeinWave in treating facial telangiectasias. As far as blue veins go, there may be some disappearance with VeinWave, but sclerotherapy injections will likely be more effective for those particular veins. I recommend consulting with a local specialist to outline a treatment plan that will allow you to achieve your desired results. Best wishes, KathyLee Santangelo, MD

Answer: Facial vein treatment Blue facial veins can usually be treated by sclerotherapy. Very fine veins (tiny spiders or telangiectasia) responds to topical laser. I have had success with the Dornier Diode 940 but there are many other topical lasers which can treat these.
