I'm one week in from FL and I've noticed that my SkinMedica moisturizer isn't soaking in the skin. This is most evident along the hairline (where sutures are) and the areas that have that marble hard feel to it. Is it because of the swelling and pores not open? Thank you,

Answer: Facelifting post op skin Thank you for posting your question. One step in facelifting is elevating and moving skin to a new position. As a result, new blood and lymphatic vessels need to develop to reestablish their "flow" to the skin. In addition there is acute swelling/inflammation from the surgery itself. Skin will act differently during this healing period because of these reasons. Also the lifted skin temporarily may have a different color and feel. Moisturizers may not absorb as well and it is important to follows your surgeons instructions as which was are safe to use. Continued patience and I hope you are enjoying your refreshed look!

Answer: Moisturizer after facelift I usually advise my patients wait a few weeks before starting his or her standard skin care regimen following a facelift. The procedure can disrupt the vascular and lymphatic drainage patterns in the skin and it can take a few days to weeks for the skin to normalize. Follow up with your surgeon to determine when you can start using your skin care products again.
