I cannot recommend that you travel abroad for surgery. I think there's serious disadvantages for you if you have complications and not doctor to help except someone in Mexico. See board certified plastic surgeons where you live for best results.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

I think that you should always ask yourself if the price was higher instead of lower, would your decision be the same?  In other words, you need to feel like you have picked the best surgeon for you.

it's very difficult to answer this question without knowing which surgeon will be operating on you in Mexico. Usually it's not a good idea to have surgery in other country with no friends or family support.  Furthermore if you are not satisfied with the results or if you have complications they will not be able to manage it. It might be slightly cheaper initially but you will end up paying a lot more in the long run.It's best to have a thorough in person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to discuss all of your treatment options. Although plastic surgery is an international specialty, I would not recommend surgery in Mexico or other foreign countries. If you are from that country and you want to have surgery there, I would only recommend the most qualified individuals, those that are members of our societies or part of academic institutions. BE very careful, surgery in Mexico can be incredibly dangerous. I have not heard of any success stories. 

Before you do surgery in any country you should know who the surgeon will be.  Some countries are better at maintaining high quality of credential and licensing.  If you want tot ask about a specific surgeon I can tell you if they are members of high class surgical societies and have the proper training.Long distance surgery has it's challenges and risks, be sure to consider all aspect of a successful surgery.Best WishesDr. Peterson

I would advise against traveling to another country for major surgical procedures. First off the credentialing process is different in each country and might not be as stringent in those countries. Second it would be very difficult to find treatment if you developed a complication (not to mention rather expensive). You would either have to find a surgeon locally to treat you or travel back to the country where you had your surgery. Both are not ideal and can be expensive. In the end I recommend looking for a quality surgeon that you trust and are comfortable with rather than the cheapest price.
