Lump and uneven texture under eyes after restylane fillers. Is this normal? Will it go away? (photo)

Hello and thank you for your question.  It is always best to wait two full weeks after having injections done before judging its final result. There is always some degree of swelling and sometimes a bit of bruising that contributes to the appearance of lumps and bumps or an uneven distribution.  The first few days tend to be the worst of it but it should gradually improve over time.  In the meantime, you can very gently massage the area (with clean hands), ice intermittently, and take Arnica to help with the healing process.  Best of luck.

Hi @ amb401! Swelling can take up to two weeks to resolve. You can try applying a cold compress and sleeping with your head elevated to minimize the swelling. If you are unhappy with the results after two weeks, you can dissolve the filler with Hyaluronidase. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

You have swelling or lump, which can last 2-3 weeks after your procedure. I recommend to follow up with your doctor. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

It is not unusual to develop some temporary swelling after Restylane is injected under the eyes.  This swelling normally will resolve over the course of several days, but sometimes it can take a bit longer.  Just based on photographs, it is impossible to know if your swelling is due to the injection procedure or due to the Restylane itself.  I would recommend waiting a week or two to get a better idea of your true results.  You could try using some cool compresses on the area to see if it improves the swelling.  If you feel the swelling is not resolving over more time, you should contact the physician who treated you.

 Yes, it its normal to have some swelling that may feel a little lumpy after a Restylane injection.  The swelling should begin to subside after 1-2 weeks. However, if, after two weeks, you continue to have questions about your treatment or the uneven texture and lumps remain, I would recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with your provider to go over your results.

It may be swelling, but if it lasts longer than 2 weeks, go back to be evaluated as you may need to have the Restylane dissolved.

If you feel a lump, you can apply a little pressure with you finger in order to flatten it a bit. Applying a cold compress and sleeping with your head elevated onto two pillows will help to minimize the swelling. Schedule a follow-up appointment in 2 weeks to see your injector.

Hello and thank you for your question. It is common to have swelling and bruising for 2 weeks or longer after dermal filler injections. This is especially true after tear trough injections. It's difficult at this point to tell whether the swelling is from soft tissue edema from the treatment or from the Restylane itself. I would give it 2 full weeks before judging it too harshly. Continue to apply cold compress minutes on,  minutes off for several hours each day.
